History of The Pet Adoption League

The Pet Adoption League was founded in 1991 by Barbara Flanigan.  With a meager inheritance from her family, she purchased 2 1/2 acres of land that included a former kennel and a trailer for living space.  Barb resigned her career as an English teacher to fulfill her desire to "make a difference" in the overpopulated world of pets.  With the help of dozens of volunteers, she dedicated the next 16 years to rescuing thousands of displaced animals and finding their "Forever Homes".  In the fall of 2008, PAL embarked on one of the largest projects yet, a completely new and modern facility.  On a shoe string budget and volunteer labor, we are now finished with this amazing new facility.  Our dogs have heated tile floors, Kuranda beds, outdoor accessible doggy doors, 3 outdoor exercise runs, and an outdoor doggy playground...complete with agility equipment. In the spring of 2010, convinced that PAL could do it again, we broke ground for a facility for felines only.  This spectacular building "Kitty Harbor" includes a  fountain room for exercise, play, and socializing the cats.  The cats have their own luxury suites complete with kitty climbing towers, birdwatching windows, beds, toys, and lots of love.  A special Thank You to Barb's husband Tom for his selfless commitment to helping animals.  If it wasn't for Tom's god gifted carpentry talents, 1000s of manhours, and love for fulfilling his wife's dream...none of this would have been possible.
